Just like women, men love dressing up for occasions. And festivities are the best occasions to flaunt your Indian wear. So you can ditch your shirt and pants for a lovely party wear dress for men to make heads turn this festive season.

The Indian ethnic wear for men is more than just a kurta and pyjama. So if you want to step out with vivid styles to suit every occasion, here are the best party wear dresses for men.

  1. Kurta and churidar: This is the most cliched yet the classiest combo for men. You can opt for a long kurta with a Chinese collar and pair it with a churidar. Depending upon the occasion, you can buy a simple kurta with minimal prints or embroidery or a heavily embroidered one.
  2. Kurta and salwar: If you think churidar sticks to your legs, swap it for a salwar to pair with your long kurta. The loose, baggy-style trousers are a classic option to be styled with a Mandarin collared kurta for a low-key event.
  3. Sherwani: A sherwani is the best traditional party wear dress for men who are attending the wedding of a loved one. The classic jacket-style long kurta with a Chinese collar and a small front slit can be paired with matching bottoms. Sherwanis are mostly heavily embroidered and come in heavy fabrics such as silk.
  4. Jodhpuri suit: A Jodhpuri suit is the best party wear dress for men, more suited for post-wedding festivities such as a reception party or a cocktail night. You can opt for a shimmery and printed loose-fitting coat-style jacket which can be paired with trousers. A Jodhpuri suit with brocade designs all over it will make you stand out from the crowd.
  5. Dhoti pants: If you want to add a traditional twist to your party wear look, swap your churidar and trousers for a dhoti to be paired with your kurta. You can buy ready-to-wear dhoti pants, which are more relaxed and breathable for your legs.
  6. Pathani suit: This suit features a long kurta with stand collars and front pockets, accompanied by matching baggy salwars. Usually, they are available in solid colours with no prints, so you can wear them for pre-wedding festivities, such as the mehendi or the sangeet function.
  7. Velvet kurta: Velvet has made a grand comeback over the years, and your favourite Bollywood celebrities are sporting this royal fabric from ancient times with class and panache. If you want a smooth and soft-feeling material that adds a regal touch to your look, a velvet kurta with minimal embroidery and a matching pocket square is the best choice.
  8. Nehru jacket: There is nothing more traditional and classy than a Nehru jacket. Wear this sleeveless, fitted, Chinese collared, short jacket over your kurta and trousers, and you’re all set for the wedding. A Nehru jacket can be plain or embroidered, depending upon the occasion.

You can accessorise your party wear for men with appropriate footwear such as mojaris, Kolhapuri chappals, or even juttis. A matching dupatta will help your simple kurta and pyjama stand out. A pocket square is the quickest way to outshine your overall wedding look when you add it to your Nehru jacket.
